Hello world - we’re back! May 2, 2008

This is Phase 1 of our return to blogging.
[Phase 2 is when we have all the right permissions for students to contribute to and appear on our class blog. Phase 3 is when we get our old student blogs back or new ones created.
http://alupton.edublogs.org/ is now Al's own personal blog. It should be viewed using the same 'safe and savvy' techniques you use wherever you are on the internet. It is not a class, school or education department blog. You can see the page with all the comments about our class blog being closed there. You can also see the framework we have all contributed to so we can get blogging again. Let's hope it helps other students and teachers as well.]

There are certain rules we need to follow right now.

There will be no photos or names of students - no identifying information at all.
Until further notice, only Al will add posts or pages to this blog.
Subscribers may add comments. These will all be moderated by Al. As administrator I reserve the right to not approve comments - there will be no justification.
[Very soon a Subscriber User Policy will be added to the pages above]
minilLegend students may only refer to themselves by ‘mini’ followed by a number eg mini17, mini24.

You might have noticed that our old blog Al Upton and the miniLegends 08 doesn’t exist anymore. We are still very much connected only now we are
Al Upton and the minilegends 08 :D

And to remind ourselves of our strong sense of community (meerkats) and global connections (our old clustr map) we have a new class blog avatar.

Our blog avatar

Feel free to add a comment.
PLEASE REMEMBER: This is a class blog and comments should be responses to the miniLegend’s learning and/or their blogging experiences. Broader dialogue comments here please.

Minis … please don’t forget that this is your blog and you can still have a lot of input into what appears here. I look forward to Phase 2 and 3 of our framework happening very soon.
We can always negotiate as we do with all our student centered learning.

Cheers, Al

I have been learning how to use Web 2.0 in a school context (see my practice blog http://lisahill.globalteacher.org.au) and found your blog via the Edublogger. I am so impressed! I had assumed that blogging was for older students, starting at about year 5. Your blog shows how an imaginative teacher can use Web 2.0 with much younger children. I shall follow your adventures with interest.
Best wishes to all your little minis!
